Aimilia Deliou is our Technical and J.O. Program Director.
At the age of five, Aimilia was selected from over 7,000 gymnasts by renowned Bela Karolyi, former coach of the Romanian National Team and Olympic Champion, Nadia Comaneci, as one of fifteen gymnasts to join the Pre-National Romanian Team.
Having a Greek father, she relocated to Greece and at the age of thirteen, joined the Greek Gymnastic National Team under coach Fotis Traianos.
The following years she competed and successfully medaled in several national and international competitions. Aimilia participated in the European Championships (Moscow) and World Championships (Stuttgart and Rotterdam). A severe injury left her out of the 1988 Seoul Olympics Games.
Aimilia became the first Greek gymnast to win a gold medal at the Balcan Championships (Athens-Greece, 1986). She was also the first Greek gymnast to medal in the Mediterranean Games (Latakia-Syria, 1987), bringing home two bronze medals for her country.
She completed her competitive career by becoming an All-Around National Champion, accumulating over 40 national and international medals.
Aimilia graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education of Sport with a Major in Gymnastics.
She came to the United States in 2001 and worked for Palaestra Gymnastics Academy. Here, Aimilia developed a National Training Program for girls, successfully training and producing numerous state, regional, and national champions.
In 2018, she joined the NHAAGS Coaching staff. We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and professional staff member.
Master Coach Lou Datilio II BS, MA Physical Education
MC Lou is the Owner and Founder of nhaags.
In 1973, Lou renovated an old barn and 14 horse stalls into a workout facility to accommodate the men's gymnastics team from UNH. He was hired by the University in 1967 to launch the growing sport of gymnastics. Within 10 years, Lou single-handedly led his men's team to nationals, was told to begin a women's gymnastics team and led them to the finals at nationals and simultaneously, opened and operated 7 schools of gymnastics across the state of NH, each the first in their territory and currently, most of them are still in operation and are our valued competitors.
A national competitor in his day from Temple University, Lou has been coaching and teaching since 1957. As a Brevet Judge, along with other founders of USA Gymnastics, Lou helped to "write the book" of Artistic Gymnastics Junior Olympic Code of Points for the USA Gymnastics Federation, then the USGF. He has watched the industry evolve from its roots as the NAAU to the NCAA to club level survival and has been an integral part in what we now know as USA Gymnastics. There are few like him left in the industry. He would say, "I can count them on one hand and can call them all from my flip phone." MC Lou has forgotten more than our entire staff collectively know about the sport. You will find him sitting in the gym, still coaching and bringing the sage wisdom and pure knowledge of "all he knows" to children and young adults.
Sit for a chat, and you will be well entertained.
